It not only really cranks up the immersion considerably, it improves my performance around the tracks. For those that can't justify cost of buying a steering wheel for occasional racing gamers, the dualshock controller used as a motion sensor steering wheel serves as an amazing zero cost alternative and I actually find it far better to steer the cars this way than with the Left analogue stick. Ooo, has anyone actually tried playing this using motion sensor tilt of the ds4 controller as the steering wheel? It's pretty damn revelatory to me but I don't read about anyone playing it this way. Overall though it's better than the main game once you're on the track. I really would like time trials, if they can't increase the pack size and AI. There's not too many other open topped cars, but those above I like very much.ĭownsides? Yeah it's a faff getting the wheel and PSVR setup, but it's not really that long (I've spent more time typing this post out). Another car that had me grinning as I was playing. Add 902 BHP and it feels like it's running on bulls instead of wheels. Lamborghini Huracan: the engine is what sells this car, unlike other super cars which are all high-pitched and whiney, the Huracan rumbles and grunts it's way around the track. It's a proper (group 3) car, so might be actually good for races, unlike the two above. Volkswagen GTI VGT: roof is lopped off, so again very open, which makes use of VR to look about without a roof or pillars blocking you. Honda Project 2&4: sounds like the motorcycle engine that powers it feels like no assists, so it's very slippery very open (you're basically sat on a seat attached to the outside) gives wonderful view just a great fun car-thing. Mazda MX5: it's a fun little car, and very flingable. Some cars definitely lend themselves more to VR, anything open topped, and well captured sound helps. It just feels so much more intense than the flat game. The immersion is immense though: I was leaning into the curves, despite there being no real G-forces grinning like an idiot from the sound and visuals coming together and my heart-rate was definitely elevated at the end. Sure it's not as crisp graphically as the main game, but it's far better than what I recall of DC. Done a bit more VR racing and I do have to say it's fun!
